Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth has finally responded to those asking him to comment on 2Face and Annie’s marital drama.

Gatekeeper reports that singer 2Face on Sunday evening, announced his separation from wife, Annie.

A development which has continued to generate intense reactions on social media, especially among celebrities.

However, speaking in a viral video on his Instagram page on Saturday, Basketmouth claimed he did not want to get involved in the conversation.

Addressing those questioning his silence over the issue, Basketmouth who had previously faced public scrutiny during his divorce in 2022, said he doesn’t want to be dragged.

“I have been receiving lots of emails and DMs from people asking me why I don’t want to get involved in Tuface and Annie’s matters? I have known 2Face for 27 years and I met Annie 24 years ago.

“First of all, I’m not in any position to get involved, because I’m not qualified at all. Make I no go talk the one wey go make people remember my own, con dey drag my head.

“This new year 2025, wey we just enter, I’m just trying to have undraggable year. Please, don’t push me.”

Peter Obi congratulates Tems on Grammy win

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has congratulated Nigerian singer, Tems, on her victory at the 67th annual Grammy Awards.

Gatekeeper reports that Tems’ ‘Love Me Jeje’ won the Best African Music Performance award over “Tomorrow” (Yemi Alade), “MMS” (Asake & Wizkid), “Sensational” (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay), and “Higher” (Burna Boy), on Sunday.

Reacting in a statement shared via his X handle on Monday, Obi also celebrated the other Nigerian artists who were nominated in various categories despite missing out on the awards.

“I extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby , who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category.

“I also rejoice with Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories,” the statement partly read.

Obi reiterated that he’s committed to “building a nation that fosters growth among the youths and helps them discover and harness their individual talents for national productivity.”

Popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has stated that media personality Toke Makinwa will be held accountable if any bad incident happens to 2Face.

VeryDarkMan made this statement following Makinwa’s post about singer 2Face’s divorce announcement from his wife, Annie.

Gatekeeper reports that the singer, in deleted posts on Instagram, announced his separation and divorce from Annie on Sunday evening.

In reaction, Makinwa, in a controversial post on Instagram, described the singer’s announcement as unfair and said, “We will fight for her.”

However, speaking amid the controversy, VeryDarkMan, who seems to be supporting 2Face, publicly warned Makinwa against any attack on the singer.

In a trending video on social media, he said, “It seems all the Nigerian women have had a meeting to throw hate on 2Face. First thing first, if anything happens to 2Face, we go pick all of una, especially Toke Makinwa. Make nothing touch 2Face ooo. Yes, because all I see here is double standards.”

‘Eezee Concept vowed to destroy my career’ – Mercy Chinwo

Nigerian gospel artiste Mercy Chinwo has released a statement via her lawyers addressing the lawsuit against her former label boss, Ezekiel ThankGod, more popularly known as Eezee Concept.

In a press release posted on her Instagram page, Chinwo recounted her journey with the music producer, from starting as his background singer to becoming his client.

The mother of one also claimed that she signed her first contract in 2017, but the dates were later changed to 2019.

According to Chinwo, Eezee Concept proposed extending her initial five-year contract to 12 years. However, she declined, explaining to him that she had other plans.

Four years into the contract, Chinwo claims the relationship became toxic, and she was subjected to verbal and emotional abuse.

Chinwo alleged that Eezee Concept would use statements such as “I will deal with you, I will mess you up, I made you who you are. I can shut you up, and nobody will hear you again, and I will destroy your career.”

Mercy Chinwo further alleged that the label owner misled people who were inviting her to events about her availability.

She insisted that she never filed a lawsuit against Eezee Concept to demand her catalogue but only wants him to release the first three pages and the execution page of the contract she signed in 2017, which he allegedly altered, to the public.
