Barely 48 hours to the Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has busted a warehouse in the tropical rainforest of Ujiogba, in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, where a warehouse loaded to the brim with hard drugs suspected to be skunk was seized.
The skunk was said to be awaiting distribution across some states of the federation ahead of commencement of the restriction order on movement for the presidential election.
Breaking the news about an hour ago on his social media Timeline, the Director, Public Affairs of the agency, Femi Babafemi, the seizure followed an intelligence report of the activities of the drug lords in the area.
Babafemi said the drug lord offered initial resistance but they were overpowered by the men of the NDLEA, forcing the criminals to flee.
He said a number of arms and ammunition’s were also seized by the agency during the encounter.
The statement read: “Following intelligence about a warehouse containing 72.86 tons of skunk for distribution across sm states ahead of Saturday polls, @ndlea_nigeria officers on Wednesday stormed Ujiogba forest, Esan West LGA, Edo State, destroyed it after gun battle with the drug lords. Guns, suspect seized.”
In accompanied video, the agency’s director showed the warehouse and the drugs already statched in bags being burnt by the agency after the operation.
He assured that the suspects would soon be prosecuted in the court of law.
Babafemi urged Nigerians to supply the agency with credible information that would continue to lead to the arrest of the criminals and to eradicate incidences of drugs and abuses in the society.
He said the NDLEA is poised to rod Nigerians of drugs and urged all well meaning Nigerians to join the crusade and put and end to the drugs menace in the country.
