President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to place more emphasis on the existing good neighbourly relations between Nigeria and the Union of Comoro Islands.
To this end, Buhari promised to brief his successor on the need to ensure a good relationship with the country.
He spoke while addressing Azali Assoumani, the President of the Union of Comoros, the incoming Chairperson of the African Union, AU.
Before departing Addis Ababa, Buhari thanked the Island nation for being a good neighbour.
“As developing states, we have to follow through on the correct steps to achieve development. I thank you for being a good neighbour and for the consistency of your friendship.
“I will brief my next successor from my Party on keeping this important relationship,” Buhari said in a statement by his Media Aide, Garba Shehu.
Also speaking, Assoumani applauded Buhari for his encouragement and support prior to his emergence as AU Chairman.
