Eulogies and tributes are coming in for the late senator Olabode Olowoporoku who passed on Thursday at the age of 75 years old.
The state governor, who is the chief mourner, described late Olowoporoku as a brilliant Economist and politician as well as a dogged fighter who contributed immensely to the creation of Ekiti State in 1996.
Fayemi stressed that the late Dr. Olowoporoku, alongside other prominent Ekiti monarchs, scholars, politicians, and community leaders spent resources, time and energy and embarked on several journeys to the nation’s capital to ensure that Ekiti State was created.
He described the late Olowoporoku as a man of many parts – a colourful politician, philanthropist, philosopher, scholar, policy formulator, and a big-time farmer.
“Above all, he was a patriot who was passionate about the emancipation of his people as well as the socio- political and economic development of our dear state and country in general”, the Governor said.
While in his own tribute, the ex-governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose said late Olowoporoku “was a courageous, daring and goal-getter and fearless Ekiti man of old.”
“The good people of Ekiti and Nigerians at large that you served diligently will continue to tell of your good works. Sleep well and good night Senator Bode Olowoporoku.” Fayose said.
An Ilawe Ekiti front line 2022 governorship aspirant, Kayode Adaramodu said Olowoporoku’s demise is a personal loss to him, stressing the late politician was his mentor and father.
“The news brought so much sadness, but it immediately became a moment of reflection, seeing how much impact Senator Bode Olowoporoku had on his generation and many more. He was a man of many parts, with remarkable achievements.”
“To everyone, there is a time and a season, and the exit of a great man as Senator Olowoporoku should remind us that the world is indeed a stage. Let’s take stock of our time, utilizing our opportunities to the benefit of humanity, making impacts and ultimately leaving an enviable and worthy legacy.”
Another citizen of the state, Prince Adesoji Omidiji said ” A brainy and political strategist is gone! He indisputably used his intellect and fearlessly fought for the creation of Ekiti State . Ekiti Kete will continue to remember you. I hope Ekiti State govt will see reasons why he should be immortalized.”
