2027: Fubara Backs Tinubu, Rainbow Coalition, Endorses Chinda for Rivers Governorship
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fubara also endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, urging his supporters to back the coalition and its candidates.
The governor stated his position in a video shared on X, where he said the time for political conflict in the state was over and called on his supporters to embrace peace.
“We have made peace in the state and I am supporting the Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our president and is the one that we are supporting,” Fubara said.
He added, “Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting and everybody who believes in me will support.”
Fubara also urged his supporters not to delay their support for the coalition in anticipation of personal benefits, saying he had returned to his political group.
“And for those of you who are saying Fubara, we want to collect something before we run, there is nothing to collect, I have gone back to our family, so please wherever you are give your total support to that coalition,” he said.
The governor urged his supporters to move beyond past disagreements and work towards peace and stability in Rivers State.
“The time of war is over, this is the time of peace and this peace is taking us to another level,” he said.
Fubara further cautioned against using his name to promote political activities that could undermine the state’s unity.
“Please, I want this to be made clear to everybody, don’t go and say we are supporting Fubara, no. My position is this, I have said it here and clearly for everyone to hear that I’m not a party to anything that will bring disunity to this state,” he added.
The declaration comes amid political realignments in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections, with the Rainbow Coalition bringing together political actors from different parties.
The coalition is associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who has also declared support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Fubara’s latest statement signals his alignment with the coalition as political activities gather momentum ahead of the next general elections.
