2026 WCQ: Super Eagles now in third place as Rwanda shock South Africa
Nigeria now occupy third place in Group C of the CAF qualification series for the 2026 World Cup.
This follows the results of two matches played in the group on Tuesday.
Rwanda pulled off a shock 2-0 win over South Africa, thanks to goals from Innocent Nshuti and Gilbert Mugisha at the Amavubi Stars at the Huye Stadium in Butare.
The win means South Africa did not pick up six points from two games which could have them firmly in control of the group.
Lesotho and Benin Republic played out a 0-0 draw.
This means Rwanda are top with four points, with South Africa are second with three points.
