Barely one month to full campaign for the 2023 general election, the Atikulated Global Movement, a group of former aspirants and candidates under PDP has said Nigerians have no better option except Atiku Abubakar to lead the country as a president come next year.

The National Organizing Secretary of the group, Yaqoob Daranijo, said the group was formed with aim of uniting the nation and working towards pulling the country out of the current woods by supporting Atiku Abubakar’s vision.

Daranijo spoke at the inauguration of a movement to unite former aspirants and candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of the 2023 general election in Abuja.

According to him, Atikulated Global Movement (AGM), is poised to ensure over 37 million Nigerians are mobilized for Atiku/ Okowa when campaigns begin in September.

“As aspirants who believed in this great party and put ourselves forward to represent our people in the last primaries, we have decided that we shall not stop fighting. We shall not stop fighting for the success of the People’s Democratic Party and of course our presidential flagbearer in the coming elections. We are keeping our hopes alive to play our part in the anticipated victory of our great party. Yes, anticipated victory because Nigerians are tired of the helpless situation, they find themselves.”

“As we build a formidable team to deliver on our electoral target, I want to urge all our colleagues and partners to brace up for the task ahead. The future is indeed bright but the road may be a bit rough. Rough in the sense that we shall be working tirelessly to achieve our desire to ensure the emergence of a brand-new President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the platform of our great party in 2023. We shall have sleepless nights as we comb the length and breadth of the country in search of grassroots partners to deliver in our pursuit.”

“We are focused on bringing the necessary solutions to usher in a new government in 2023.

“We are Nigerians from different tribes, races, religions, professions, and genders at home in Nigeria and in the Diaspora who wish to work for the successful emergence of a brand-new President of the Federation,” he said.

Datti Baba-Ahmed

Former LP Vice Presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed believes President Bola Tinubu will not seek re-election in 2027 if he is truly a smart politician.

Baba-Ahmed stated this on Arise Television’s political program, ‘Prime Time,’ on Friday.

He claimed that Tinubu’s time is up, adding that everything is there for the president and the ruling All Progressives Party, APC, to see that they would lose in 2027.

“I expect Tinubu to throw in the towel if he is that smart politician that he turns out to be,” Baba-Datti said.

Baba-Datti also claimed that Tinubu started presenting presidential candidates in 2007, “culminating in his electoral heist in 2023.”

He said, “He skipped 2007 and jokingly made Atiku (presidential) candidate, made Ribadu and somebody 2011, made Buhari in 2015, Buhari won, and then skipped 2019 and they stole 2023.

“If he is that smart, everything is there for him that he’s going to lose 2027.”

Rivers Crisis: I’m open to forgiveness – Wike gives Fubara condition for peace

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has given suspended Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State condition for peace.

Wike said he is open to forgiveness if Fubara apologizes over the political crisis in the state.

Wike and Fubara had been at loggerheads shortly after the latter became governor in 2023.

The crisis between the duo affected the state House of Assembly, a situation that led to factionalization of the legislature in the state.

As the political crisis started degenerating into insecurity challenges, President Bola Tinubu had declared a state of emergency.

Tinubu also suspended Fubara for six months while appointing a sole administrator.

However, addressing a media parley in Abuja, Wike said: “Has anybody approached anybody? I don’t like people who are hypocrites. I have told her to mention an elder in Rivers running around the governor who has taken steps to achieve peace?

“At the end of the day, if we don’t achieve anything, we will still go back to square one, which does not make sense.

“The day Mr President intervened, the assembly people immediately withdrew the impeachment notice. I’m open to forgiveness if he comes sincerely.”
