The Yoruba World Congress has endorsed the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for the 2023 election, saying that his precedents, qualities, ideals, and dreams for the betterment of Nigeria put him far ahead of other contenders for the county’s exalted seat.

YWC Representative in Ekiti State, Adewole Oluwasegun, who said the body decided given what Tinubu represented and his manifesto, said the APC candidate would bring about a better and more developed Nigeria to the delight of Nigerian citizens, adding that the Yoruba tribe would immensely benefit from it.

Oluwasegun, who spoke in Ado Ekiti on Saturday during the formal endorsement of Tinubu by the YWC in Ekiti State and the official presentation by the YWC of the Memorandum of Association to the APC, said, “Look at what Tinubu did in Lagos when he was governor—the roadmap, the achievements, and the trajectory. The way he governed Lagos showed that Nigeria will not be difficult for him to handle.”

The YWC chieftain called on Yoruba people in the country and the diasporas to unite in support of Tinubu, under whose presidency, according to him, the goal of development of the Southwest geopolitical zone would be achieved, saying, “We are calling on Yoruba people to join this cause because we now have one Yoruba man and it is only Yoruba that can make Yoruba grow.”

Oluwasegun said, “What we are doing is political because we believe in what Asiwaju is presenting to the public, in what he represents, and in what he has shown in his manifesto. We believe that with Asiwaju Tinubu, the betterment of Nigeria is guaranteed.”

The APC chairman in Ekiti State, Paul Omotoso, who expressed delight in the endorsement of the party’s presidential candidate by YWC, described it as a morale booster for the party to coast home to victory in the 2023 polls.

Omotoso, represented by the deputy chairman, Sola Elesin, who said the party in the state had been preparing ahead of the 2023 election, said it had set up a committee chaired by the Minister of Trade, Niyi Adebayo, and co-chaired by Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his predecessor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to take care of activities for the election.

Omotoso said, “We are preparing hard in the sense that Ekiti is unique, whatever we do, we will want to triumph and make the best of it.”

In Nigeria today, when you talk about APC, Ekiti State is at the frontline, and we are going to work hard to achieve 100 per cent success for Tinubu.”
