The Labour Party has concluded plans to unveil Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as the party’s vice presidential candidate for the 2023 elections on Friday (today).
The Labour Party has concluded plans to unveil Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as the party’s vice presidential candidate for the 2023 elections on Friday (today).
The ceremony, initially slated for Thursday (yesterday), was cancelled due to the absence of the presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The former Anambra State Governor could not make the ceremony due to the cancellation of his flight from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, where he had gone for a function.
This development was confirmed by the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, on Thursday.
Abure’s confirmation came after the placeholder vice presidential candidate, Dr. Doyin Okupe, announced his withdrawal from the race.
Okupe, in a series of tweet on his Twitter handle on Thursday, said he had notified the Independent National Electoral Commission of his decision.
Abure said Baba-Ahmed, in his 40s and Proprietor of Baze University, Abuja and Baba-Ahmed University, Kano, will be unveiled by Obi at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
