2023 AFCON Qualifier: 21 players in camp as Super Eagles begin preparation for Sierra Leone
The Super Eagles held their first training session ahead of this weekend’s clash against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Monday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Onikan, Lagos.
21 players are now in the team’s Eko Hotel and Suites camp.
Head coach Jose Peseiro exempted home-based duo, Ebube Duru and Divine Nwachukwu from the training session.
The duo featured in all of Rivers United and Bendel Insurance’s five games at the just concluded Nigeria Premier League Super Six playoffs.
Captain Ahmed Musa and left-back Zaidu Sanusi joined their teammates in camp on Monday afternoon.
Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen and Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze are still expected in camp.
The Super Eagles will take on the Leone Stars in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday five encounter at the Samuel Kanyon Doe, Stadium, Monrovia, on Saturday.
