Professor Joshua Ogunwole, the Vice Chancellor of Bowen University, Iwo Osun State said one of the uniqueness of the University is its practicality of education and leadership skills.
Ogunwole stated this when the University recently appointed the 2021 “One Day Vice Chancellor” on Wednesday.
According to him, the exercise to encourage the students face their studies, push for an enviable heights as well as learn leadership kills needed in the future.
In a statement made available to our correspondent by Head, Directorate of Information & Public Relations of the institution, Toba Adaramola, the one day Vice Chancellor will perform all the constitutional roles of the Vice Chancellor for a day in office. He /She will preside over all meetings, receive visitors, treat files, use all the paraphernalia of office of the Vice Chancellor and above all, he/ she will receive the salary of the Vice Chancellor for one day.
Adaramola said Mr Olasubomi Olopade, a 500 level Law student of the University was crowned as the ‘ One day Vice Chancellor’for 2021.
In his speech, Olopade expressed his appreciation to God , his parents and his friends for their supports. He said he has come to realize the need not to give up because he tried to occupy the position during the last contest but could not meet up.
On his assessment of the roles of the Vice Chancellor, he said that the role is demanding and challenging , Olopade said that his mantra for his one day service is “Service with result”.
According to Adaramola, Bowen University is structured to be different from others institutions in Nigeria.
“Bowen builds the spirit of entrepreneurship in all students, think of how to be responsible, digital market orientation and above all gives the platform for emerging leaders.”
