The immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has said the judgment of the election petition tribunal which annulled the State Governorship election will not take effect until the matter gets to the Supreme Court.
Dickson in a statement on Monday, August 17, said Duoye Diri remains the Governor of Bayelsa State until all appeal processes are exhausted.
Dickson explained that Diri would continue to serve in that capacity until the Supreme Court rules on the matter.
He urged the people of Bayelsa not to be perturbed by the judgment which he described as a temporary setback.
The former Governor said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will appeal the tribunal verdict.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has reacted to the ruling of the election petition tribunal which nullified his election.
in his reaction, Governor Diri said he will appeal the ruling, adding that he has instructed his lawyers to file the necessary papers.
In a press release by his Acting Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, the Governor said he has implicit confidence in the judiciary that he would triumph in the end.
He urged members of the PDP and his supporters not to panic and to continue to remain calm and law-abiding.
