The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye on Friday described the ruling of the Kogi West National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal nullifying his victory in the March 22 election and ordering a fresh election as a total miscarriage of justice.
In a statement, he said his legal team was already studying the judgement, adding that he would appeal it.
Dino Melaye said he was confident that the Appeal Court would upturn the judgement of the Lower Tribunal.
According to him, the judgement was full of importation of information that was alien to the case.
Melaye said: “ It is a distraction to divert me from my governorship ambition. It is a miscarriage of justice and it cannot stand”
“I have confidence in the Appeal Court to right the wrongs as contained in the pronouncements of the judgement. I am sure we will justice at the court of appeal”
“I want to use this opportunity to call on all Kogites to remain peaceful and calm. Our mandate cannot be taken, it has not been taken and will not be taken” He said.
He boosted that ” Dino Melaye is the next governor of Kogi State. There will only be an election at Kogi West because there will be a need for a replacement at the national assembly after I am sworn as the Governor”.
