As the call for Oduduwa Republic continues to grow, Chief Bisi Akande, a former Governor of Osun State and Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on agitators to bury such thought.
Akande who is the pioneer Interim Chairman of APC made the appeal on Monday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
He said that allowing Yoruba to break away from Nigeria might lead to bloodshed and avoidable civil war that would further decimate the people.
He consequently called on those agitating for a Yoruba nation to bury the idea, saying the nation couldn’t afford to witness another civil war.
“Those agitating for a Yoruba nation should have a rethink. This country must remain united to save it from war.
“Yoruba will be in war for another 100 years if Nigeria is allowed to break,” he said.
Going further, he added that Nigeria is a product of war, adding that the country came into existence after Yoruba people had gone into 100 years of wars.
He added that most African countries and western world envy Nigeria because the country is the heartbeat of Africa.
